Instead, it uses the Federated Byzantine Agreement (FBA) algorithm, which speeds up transaction processing. This is because Stellar uses slices of the quorum (or part of the network) to validate transactions.
Each node in the Stellar network selects a different set of 'trustworthy’ nodes. A transaction is considered validated when it is confirmed by all nodes in the set. The simplified process makes the Stellar network extremely fast, reportedly processing up to 1,000 network operations per second. As such, Stellar (and by extension the virtual coin generated by the network) is considered a very future-proof solution.
